A new Council plan to green the Geelong CBD. ‘City in the park‘ aims to make the city a better place to be. The overall plan is very good for the CBD and we cannot wait to see it progress.
The changes include:
- removing cars lanes and parking
- planting lots of trees
- adding a new Copenhagen bike lane to Bellerine st.
- improved bikelanes on Moorabool st.
The plan WILL improve the CBD, but it doesn’t go far enough to reduce in car dependence.
We’d like to see some further treatment given Mercer st too. A white paint, green paint and tree planing renovation would get people out of cars with little cost compared to ripping up pavement. See out before and after design.
