Plenty of people, young and old turned out to enjoy the winter sunshine and re-invigorate a few inner city lanes for the ‘better block’ event. The event strongly supported bike riders of all kinds with easy bike parking, coffee and a cycling forum.
The forum at Beav’s Bar was stacked with people passionate about seeing bike riding in Geelong emerge from the shadows… The speaker’s told of Geelong’s rich cycling history, exciting bicycle networks in the pipeline, Deakin Uni’s role in supporting bike users, Copenhagen’s pedal first philosophy and Jason Roberts reasons for grass roots activism.
Thanks to the event organisers and speakers. The event had us believing that a critical mass of people concerned about the cycling and the city are forming – and on the cusp of achieving change…
